WHAT?! A decade in the industry... how did that happen?
Somedays, I feel like a tenured bad-ass realtor mom boss and others, well I feel like I'm a newbie. That's the beauty of Real Estate: every day, every deal is different.
Introduction
For those who do not know me, Hi, I'm Lindsay. I'm a 36-year-old wife and mom of two, born and raised in Perry County. I joined the Real Estate Industry in July 2014, and I've been involved in over 578 transactions.
Before joining the real estate world, I worked in retail as a store manager for Ann Taylor and The Limited Brands.
How did I get started in real estate?
My son, Logan, motivated me. I knew I wanted flexibility in my career. I loved retail—I mean, I really loved it—but I couldn't see myself working in the industry with a family.
I grew up in the Real Estate industry. My mom, my broker, Teresa Hower, has been in the industry for 30 years. She has planted seeds for me to join the industry since I was 16.
Growing up with self-employed parents was what I knew as "life." I was trying to figure out how I would work in retail, where the hours were crazy (I mean, so is real estate), but how would that work raising a family?
So this gave me a little motivation to buy the laptop... THEN, once Logan arrived, I got the motivation to start the classes. Then I blinked, and it's been ten years.
My Why?
My family. My clients.
The thing that gets me up every morning is my family. I created an environment where I can be present with my kids and there for their significant life events.
What keeps me motivated and driven? My clients. They are the joy, heart, and backbone of my business. Early on, coming from a world of retail, I knew I most enjoyed working with the public.
Purchasing a home is one of the largest investments you can make. I am passionate about being a part of that, helping navigate the process, and educating my clients.
Why Central PA?
Perry County (and the surrounding counties) is a beautiful community in Central Pennsylvania. We are very blessed to have raised our family here and now have a business where we can continue to thrive. I am a big supporter of "Shop Local." I give my business to other local businesses where I can, whether painting, roofing, general contracting, or plumbers. I have you covered with a list of some fantastic local businesses.
Dunannon & Marysville are connected small towns in central PA. If people know you and who you are, you will know them and who they are. Over 95% of my business has come from past clients, friends, family, or their referrals in the last ten years.
Mission
On a random Monday conference call, while working in retail, my District manager challenged all the store managers. The challenge: "What do YOU want to be known for? When people say YOUR name, what do you want them to think of?"
I kept circling back to the same thing. Knowledge.
You don't know a policy, call me.
If you need to learn how to handle a client, contact me.
If you need random company knowledge/policies/procedures/ best practices, I got you. I wanted to be the center source.
This has rolled into many areas of my life, including my real estate career. Many of my clients will have heard me say, "Knowledge is power. The more knowledge you have, the better decision you can make for yourself and your family". I enjoy educating my clients about the process and how it works. I want the phone calls with questions. I do this every single day. You will buy or sell a home a handful of times in your lifetime. I want you to feel confident and comfortable with the process, and that starts with knowledge. "....
Legacy
I've been called "Mary Poppins" in my home life when we're out at one of the many sporting events. If another family is missing something, ask Lindsay; she probably has it. Coaches need something, such as a Band-Aid, Tylenol, hand warmers, etc. Lindsay probably has it in "that bag of hers." Cold? I probably have an extra blanket in the car. Sounds a lot like my mission in retail, right?
This has been my mission in real estate. Knowledge, Confidence, Integrity, and Unparalleled Service. Forward-thinking, and fast-moving.
Real estate is a big puzzle. I LOVE to solve puzzles. I'm a matchmaker. What is the problem? Let me give you some outside-of-the-box, forward-thinking solutions. As a realtor, I'm a master at placing puzzle pieces together.
The Future
Guys, I just want to continue focusing on my clients, building my relationships, and forming partnerships. I want to continue impacting my clients, their friends and family, the industry, and local agents.
What are the next steps for me and my career?
I aim to follow in my mom's footsteps, becoming a licensed broker.
I love to educate, and I love our boutique atmosphere within the office. I love the family-like environment we've created with all our agents and clients. I love the education provided based on real-life scenarios. This is what I want to continue to nurture and grow.
Most say, "Success in real estate comes down to three factors: taking care of, listening to, and valuing you, the consumer."
But it's missing a piece. Success also depends on the agent's willingness to grow, learn, and adapt in the industry. How much work will you put into YOU to better serve your clients?
thank
You
You
I'll close with, a HUGE THANK YOU! Without each of your support whether that's referring friends / family, sharing posts, giving out my business cards or silently cheering me on from the sidelines. I couldn't do what I do without each of you. I know... cheesy. Everyone says it. But truly. With your support, I not only get to do what I love, but I also get to share that passion with you.
Bringing two parties together to achieve one goal.
Thank you for the last ten years - looking forward to the next 10.
